Autumn Woodland

Autumn Woodland original oil painting by Ottawa area artist Doreen Dyet of autumn leaves in the forest.

I started to paint this in a Sheila Davis workshop that I took online in February 2025 and finished it later in my studio. Sheila uses colours that I don't usually use, so I enjoyed learning about transparent paints and her application techniques. You can see through the colours in some areas of the painting.

The finished piece depicts a vibrant forest scene focusing on autumn leaves. The leaves are predominantly orange and yellow, set against a backdrop of intertwining branches and stems. The colors are rich and varied, with a mix of greens and blues in the background, creating a sense of depth and texture. The composition captures the dynamic movement and interplay of natural elements, evoking a sense of energy and change.
